Problematizing is the act of proposing, seeking out, and embracing problems. Rather than hide from or minimize problems, I see problems as the primary source of and impetus for learning.

I draw inspiration for my view on problems from James Hiebert and colleagues who have written about problematizing in the context of mathematics education reform. But what I have learned about the benefits of engaging in problem-solving activities are relevant and influential in many aspects of my life.
